Chapter 8 – Pour Your Own Troubles

Vixen

My head felt like a dead weight.

Moaning, I lifted myself up slowly from the plush pillow and observed my surroundings. A pit of fear filled my stomach at the unfamiliar room. My feet hit the carpeted floor apprehensively, carrying me to where my dress lay neatly across the chair. I dressed numbly, trembling as I zipped up my dress. Once I was finished, I touched my hair, relief swelling up inside of me since it felt neat. Grabbing my clutch, I took a look around the room and noticed a small sheet of paper sitting on the nightstand.

I hope you had just as much fun last night as I did. Let me know when we’ll do this again. Dom.

“What?” I mumbled stupidly, holding my head and shaking it.

I opened the room door to see where I was. Room 392. I eyed the door wearily, panic swirling in my stomach with every step I took toward the elevator. I was beside myself as I stood in front of my own door, confusion and guilt beginning to settle in since I knew Gino must be waiting up for me. I was relieved at the dark living room when the lights clicked on, revealing a cool Gino.

“Good morning,” Gino said from the kitchen table. He was still dressed in his clothes from last night. “Had fun?”

“What are you talking about?” I let my purse hit the table with a clatter.

A cold fury swept across Gino’s face. “You’re going to walk in here and act like you didn’t fuck him?”

“Fuck who?” My mind was reeling at the news.

“The same man you’ve been wide open over!” Gino pulled out his phone and after a few seconds, the sounds and noises I heard turned my stomach.

“That’s not me.”

“So then who the fuck is it because this is what I got when you CALLED MY PHONE!” Gino was livid as he towered over me. “So please explain to me who had your phone to do some fucked up shit like this? I know exactly what you sound like fucking, Vixen.”

“I don’t know why you’re acting so high and mighty. You fucked Camille. So even if I did have sex with Dom — which I didn’t — why are you all down my throat?” My voice sounded like sandpaper along with a head that felt like a bag of rocks.

“If you would’ve stayed in our room last night you would’ve seen Camille and let her explain to you what she meant.” Gino’s face looked like stone as he continued. “While I was at Camille’s place I talked to her son. He was considering selling drugs so I talked him out of it and gave him a part-time job. She’s a single mother and raising a boy into a man. My help got them back on the right track.”

“And the other two messages?”

“How many times has your phone sent messages to the wrong person? She was mortified. You wouldn’t know though because you were out fucking Dominic.
